We build currated shows that are well rounded and cover all genres.
Since 2003 it has been our mission to create programs that highlight a broad variety of genres within film. This year is no different, you will see that we have carefully curated shows (we call them "Mix Tapes") to simulate the in-person experience. Each "Mix Tape" show is a variety of films, pre configured for your viewing pleasure. The shows are categorized into themes and/or "mini" festivals which give the viewer a well rounded film festival experience. This method is a great way to see a wide spectrum of films you may have overlooked in the "2020 Films List".

Dear Future Me

Dear Future Me
Every June at Maplewood Middle School in NJ, 6th grade students participate in a rite of passage: they write a letter to their future 18 year-old selves. For over 25 years, this extracurricular assignment has encouraged students to imagine and reflect on who they are and who they will become. After the letters are completed and sealed in a self-addressed, stamped envelope, two dedicated Language Arts teachers collect them and then hold onto them for six years. When a class is about to graduate, the teachers mail the letters from their past selves. For 25 years no one was allowed behind the curtain to witness and capture this amazing ritual, until now. “Dear Future Me,” a new documentary short film in two parts, features both high school seniors opening their letters and 6th graders writing to their future selves. The results are surprising, emotional and heartwarming. Since none of these students have been in school since March due to the Covid-19 pandemic, students have a unique perspective this year and the letters take on even greater meaning. But even more than reminiscing about their middle school selves, the letters prompt reflections of identity, race, sexuality and just how much can change in six short years.
